Abstract

Short Bio

Prof. R. H. Dholakia

Dr. Ravindra H. Dholakia, a retired Professor of IIM, Ahmedabad, has more than 38 years of experience in regional economic development, economic analysis and policy, international economics and health economics. Earlier, he has served as a consultant to State and Central governments, private sector institutions and international organizations such as WHO, UNICEF, ADB and World Bank. He has also been a member of various committees appointed by the Government and has more than 140 research papers and 22 books to his credit.He holds a post-doctoral research fellowship from the University of Toronto and a PhD in Economics from M S University, Baroda.

Dr. Rattan Chand

Dr Rattan Chand is one of the founding Directors, EGROW Foundation. He is a former officer of the Indian Statistical Service and has served the Government of India in various positions for more than 35 years. While in the service, he worked closely with many Development Partners including USAID, World Bank, United Nations, World Health Organization etc. He has represented the Government at many national and International Meetings, Conferences and Seminars in the Health Sector. As Chief Director, in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, he was responsible for Monitoring and evaluation and during his tenure many activities like establishing Health Management Information System (HMIS), Annual Health Surveys, District Level Household Surveys and National Family Health Survey were initiated and completed.

He obtained Ph.D. in Population Studies from IIPS, Mumbai, PG Diploma in Population and Development from JNU and Master of Statistics from Punjabi University.

Dr. V. Kumaraswamy

Kumaraswamy is an alumnus of IIM, Ahmedabad. He has been working with some of India’s top corporates for last 35 years. Now as Chief Financial Officer with one of the leading groups.

He has travelled to over 50 countries at last count on official account as well as due to deep interest in leisure and exploratory travel. He has been to some of the remotest places in countries off the regular circuit – Swaziland, Estonia, Myanmar, Brazil, Finland, Bhutan…and Syria and Egypt right during riot/civil war times.He has met people from various walks of life – from farmers and foresters to policemen to presidents, politicians to parliamentarians, pole dancers to chefs, lions, and paupers.

Written 2 books – Making Growth Happen in India (Sage Publications), Weird Adventures and Uncommon Lessons (Authors Point). Over 100 articles and of late poems.

Lt. Gen. Rakesh Sharma

Lt. Gen. (Dr.) Rakesh Sharma is General Bipin Rawat Chair of Excellence, The United Service Institution of India (USI); and Distinguished Fellow, VIF and CLAWS. Lt Gen (Dr) Rakesh Sharma was commissioned in Gorkha Rifles in 1977, and had a career spanning forty years in the Army. He has had extensive operational experience in Jammu and Kashmir, North East and on the Western Borders. The officer had trained the Botswana Army for three years in Africa, and attended the National War College at Abuja, Nigeria. Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma attended the NDC at New Delhi. He was Research Fellow at Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses and has done PhD in Defence Studies. General Rakesh Sharma commanded the Fire and Fury Corps in Ladakh responsible for Kargil, Siachin Glacier and Eastern Ladakh – facing both Pakistan and China. The General was the Adjutant General of the Indian Army responsible for the Human Resource Management and superannuated in 2017. He has been awarded by the President of India. He is a regular participant in seminars, lectures in various institutions, and regularly writes for newspapers and military journals. He is currently DISTINGUISHED FELLOW with Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) and Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) and on the EXECUTIVE COUNCIL of Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) and of Global Counter Terrorism Council (GCTC).

Dr. Manoranjan Sharma

Dr. Manoranjan Sharma, Chief Economist, Infomerics Ratings is former Chief Economist, General Manager, and Chief Learning Officer, Canara Bank. Extensively travelled both in India and abroad, he is globally recognized as an expert in the Indian economy, banking, MSMEs, MFIs, financial inclusion, etc. He has made presentations and Chaired sessions at national and international Conferences, Terrapinn PteLtd. (Singapore); Marcus Evans (Malaysia); Naseba (Paris/Dubai).

Nominated a member of Advisory Councils across geographies, including, Member, Governor’s Advisory Council, Rajasthan; Chancellor’s Nominee on Board of Management, Kota University, he has 300 publications and six widely acclaimed books, viz., Global Financial Meltdown; Leading Issues in Indian Economy; Studies in Money, Finance and Banking; India’s Transforming Financial Sector; Dynamics of Indian Banking; and Indian Economic Policies and Data.
