Post COVID-19 World - New Paradigms of National Security

COVID-19 has hit the world economy very badly. The production activities have now been suffering after aviation, travel and tourism. In most of the world, there is a lockdown and the IMF has expressed fears that there would be a recession in 2020. Already, parallels are being drawn with the global financial slowdown of 2008 and Great Depression of 1929.

In India, also, the economy is expected to be badly impacted. The pandemic is still in early stages and the adversity cannot be predicted acutely but there are early signs that normalcy in production, trade and commerce will only be restored after July 2020. Thus, for an Emerging country, with young demographics, nearly half the year would be lost. In economic terms, this would imply hardship to labor and set back to entrepreneurs, MSMEs and agriculture at large.

The Government and the RBI has announced packages to sail through these difficult times. And then the economy has to revive, slowly but steadily and recover to strat galloping at 8-9 percent of economic growth. How would that happen without a strategy?

EGROW Foundation, research based policy Think Tank, is organising a one day Conference to deliberate upon the Revival of the Economy after July 2020, beyond COVID 19.

The Conference, besides inaugural and valedictory sessions, would have five sessions of 60 minutes each. The focus of the sessions would be –

  1. How, Still, to achieve USD 5 T Economy – Macro Economy
  2. Empowering Farmers and Doubling their Incomes – Reviving Agriculture
  3. Pandemics and Challenges for Health Sector – Analysing Health Sector preparedness
  4. Is Financial Sector ready to finance growth for a Mega Economy - Banking/NBFCs
  5. Geopolitics: India in the Global Economy – Focus on National Security
