The opportunities for enhancing energy resilience, diversifying supply sources, advancing renewable energy collaboration, and securing critical minerals. It will also assess the role of South-South cooperation in fostering economic growth, sustainable development, and long-term energy stability in a rapidly changing global landscape.This webinar examines how countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East are strengthening cooperation through trade agreements, joint investments, technology transfer, and sustainable resource management.

Short Bio

Ajay Shankar

Ajay Shankar is a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who served as the Secretary of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), which is now known as the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). He retired from the IAS in December 2009. He joined the IAS in 1973 and held various significant positions at both Central and State government levels over a career spanning more than 40 years. He served for a decade in the Power Ministry, playing a key role in the preparation and enactment of the Electricity Act, 2003, and the universal rural electrification program launched in 2005.Ajay Shankar has remained involved in public policy. He is a Distinguished Fellow at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and holds positions as Chairman of the Mobile and Electronic Devices Export Promotion Council (MEDEPC) and the TEMA Council on Industrial Policy (Telecom Equipment Manufacturers Association of India). He is also the President of the Board of Trustees for the Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC) and a Member of the Board of Management at JK Lakshmipat University, where he also chairs the Center for Policy Studies.

Shuva Raha

Shuva leads CEEW’s International Cooperation programme spanning five regions – Asia-Oceania, West Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Her portfolio includes energy and resource security, the macroeconomics of emerging economies, global governance and multilateralism, digitalisation and AI, climate resilience, and nexus challenges.

Shuva anchors CEEW's advisory to multilaterals such as the G20, G7, BRICS, and the UN; has been a UNFCCC CoP Observer since 2016, and is a champion of ‘the India Story’ of the aspirations and achievements of 1.4 billion people.

Shuva has 26+ years of experience across public policy, information technology, project management, branding, and institutional leadership. She engages with governments, institutions, and industry with a pragmatic worldview of priorities and realities, and is a thought-provoking international speaker and author.

In 2014, as Chief Operating Officer of CMYK Multimedia, a firm of The Pioneer (est. 1864) newsgroup, Shuva segued from her 15-year infotech career – journeying from the dotcom era to deploying advanced ERP and intranets for some of India’s biggest corporates – to policy.

As Head – New Initiatives, Energy & Infrastructure of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), she led major assignments that helped exponentially scale India’s renewables and biofuels sectors, and supported the formative years of the International Solar Alliance.

Shuva is a Postgraduate in Advertising & Communications Management from NMIMS, Mumbai, where she topped her class and was awarded the Advertising Agencies Association of India Raman Memorial Trophy. She has a BSc Honours with Distinction in Life Sciences and Biochemistry from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
