Ashok Vishandass
Ashok Vishandass, Professor (Applied Economics) (IIPA) has interest in Sustainable Agriculture, Risk Management, International Trade & Commerce. As ex-Chairman (CACP) in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare at the level of the Secretary to the Govt. of India, he has rich experience of formulation of Agriculture Price and Non-Price Policies, nuances of fixing MSP of various agriculture commodities. Before joining IIPA, he had also served FAO of United Nations Organisation (UNO) as the Chief Technical Adviser. In his stint with the UNO, he provided high-level technical and economic advice relating to Food Security, SDGs, agricultural Marketing and brought out eight Reports.
Prof. Ashok holds Ph.D. (Agri. Economics), M.A. (Economics) (University of Manchester), M.B.A. (Financial Management), PG Diploma in Population and Development (JNU), M. Stat. (Master of Statistics) (Gold Medalist).
R S Deshpande
Professor R S Deshpande is Honorary Visiting Professor, Institute for Social and Economic Change. He retired as Professor and Director of Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore He was formerly National Fellow, Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). He was the initiator of the proposal and founding Director of Bengaluru Dr B R Ambedkar School of Economics, Bangalore. Earlier. Dr. Deshpande steered the mega study on “Farmer at the Millennium” and completed many research studies. He was the architect of Karnataka’s Agricultural Policy 2006 and Chaired many Policy Bodies in Agricultural Sector of Karnataka State. Dr Deshpande has authored 22 books and more that 120 research papers. Professor Deshpande has shown significant interest in budgetary studies. He was invited as Visiting Professor to the 1. University of Ottawa, Canada; 2. Saskatchewan Institute of Policy Planning, Regina, 3. University of Paris, France, 4. Lund University, Sweden. He worked as a consultant to the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Land Equity Australia etc. He is recipient of many awards and Gold medals especially PNASF Gold Medal for Agricultural Policy. He chaired Working Groups at the Planning Commission and Mission on Agriculture and Rural Development. He is Fellow of Indian Society of Agricultural Economics and Fellow of Karnataka Science and Technology Academy.
Upinder Sawhney
Upinder Sawhney is professor, chairperson and coordinator of UGC Special Assistance Programme at Department of Economics, Panjab University, Chandigarh. A Fulbright – Nehru Fellow, she also serves as convener, Jawaharlal Nehru Chair and Dr. Manmohan Singh Chair at Panjab University since April, 2016. She was a member of the Regional Advisory Group at NABARD and has taught a course on Inter-Cultural Management – Development Process of the Indian Economy at the University of Wurzburg, Germany. Her doctoral thesis is on Public Enterprise in a Predominantly Agricultural Economy: A case study of Punjab.
Pinaki Chakraborty
Pinaki Chakraborty was the Director, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy New Delhi. Prior to this, he was the Chief-Social Policy-UNICEF, and the Chief of Field Office-UNICEF Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Since 2008, he has been Professor at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, New Delhi. He served as a Member, Advisory Council to the Fifteenth Finance Commission of India; Member-Secretary, Committee on Fiscal Statistics appointed by the National Statistical Commission in 2017; Chairman, Kerala Public Expenditure Review Committee-a statutory committee appointed by the Government of Kerala; and Research Associate, Levy Economics Institute, New York. From May 2013 to December 2014, Chakraborty served as Economic Adviser to the 14th Finance Commission of India, heading the Economic Analysis and Technical Coordination Division of the Commission. He also served as a Member of the Third Union Territory Finance Commission, appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, and as a Consultant to the Eleventh Finance Commission of India.
Chakraborty has critical domain knowledge of the public finances of the national and state governments and has served on the advisory committees of various research institutions in India. He has also held short term visiting appointments in the Department of Economics at the University of Ottawa and the University of Carleton, and at the Centre for Development Studies-affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, and taught Indian Public Finance course at the Indira Gandhi Institute for Development Research, Mumbai.
He testified before the Select Committee of the Upper House of India Parliament in June 2015 on the Constitution Amendment Bill on GST. His book titled “GST in India: A Simple Tax in a Complex Federal System” has been published by Orient Back Swan in 2019. He has also researched extensively on the decentralization and development of States in India. He has co-authored two books titled ‘State Level Reforms, Growth, and Development in Indian States” published by the Oxford University Press, New York in 2014 and ‘Social Sector in a Decentralised Economy: India in the Era of Globalization’ published by Cambridge University Press. He publishes regularly on various national and international journals. He has an MPhil in Applied Economics and PhD in Economics from the Centre for Development Studies.
Lt Gen PS Rajeshwar
Lt Gen PS Rajeshwar was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery in December 1980. A gunner and aviator, he is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Army War College and National Defence College(s) in New Delhi and Philippines. He has actively taken part in Operation Meghdoot and Operation Rakshak. He commanded a Medium Regiment in Operation Parakram, an infantry brigade on the Line of Control, a Counter Insurgency Force in Jammu & Kashmir and a Corps in the Desert sector.
He also served on key staff assignments and UN Peacekeeping missions in Mozambique and Rwanda. His apex responsibilities, both tri-service, included the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) and the Commander-in Chief of the Andaman & Nicobar Command (CINCAN) from where he retired in May 2020.
S.M. Shafi
Dr. Mohammad Shafi is Professor of Commerce. He has done his Masters in Commerce from the University of Kashmir. He has done his MPhil and PhD in the area of finance and international business respectively. He has an experience spanning around twenty 30 years. Three books and 45 research papers to his credit, Dr. Shafi has attended many national and international conferences, seminars and presented papers thereof.
Dr. Shafi has an international experience to his credit. He was Head, Department of Finance & Banking, Jazan University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He has been a visiting faculty to the School of Business, Carthage University, Tunisia. He serves as an Academic Council Member of many universities and is External Examiner of doctoral students of many universities. Dr. Shafi has an acumen in planning and designing curriculum for commerce and management programmes. He was the chief architect of Choice Based Credit System for the PG Programmes of the University of Kashmir. He served on important academic committees of the University. He has been the former the Head, Department of Commerce, University of Kashmir. Prof. Shafi has also served as the Director, Centre for Career Planning & Counselling (CCPC) of the University. As Director CCPC, he has made notable contributions by Creating Career Counsellors Structure and effected a large number of placements.
Dr. Shafi has recently been appointed as Professor in Management at Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST) as Professor in Management. He is also heading the Department of Economics in the University.
Raman Aggarwal
Raman Aggarwal is the Director of Finance Industry Development Council (FIDC) – A Representative body cum Self-Regulatory Organization for Non-Banking Finance Companies. He is currently working as Sr.Vice President, Head – Corporate Affairs with SREI Equipment Finance Ltd, which is the leading financier of construction and mining equipment in India. He has more than 27 years of working experience in the NBFC sector.
He has been actively representing the NBFC sector, being a member ofAdvisory Groups to Ministry of Finance & RBI, Core Group setup by Ministry of Corporate Affairs,and Special Task Force at FICCI. He is theChairman of National Council on NBFCs& Member, Managing Committee at ASSOCHAM and the Co-ConvenorIndustry Govt Interface Panels at Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (ICEMA). He was the signatory to the Engagement Letters signed by World Bank Group with FIDC.
He was awarded the “Best NBFC Exemplary Leader” Award at the ET NOW BFSI Awards and “100 Top Most Influential BFSI Leaders” award at the World BFSI Congress in 2018& 2019. He has addressed major events and seminars,like Global Convention on Corporate Governance and Sustainability at London, IFC’s Financial Infrastructure Workshop for Da Afghanistan Bank, EuroFinance India 2010 – 13, The Economic Times Summit on Financial Inclusion, National Summit on NBFCs and World Auto Congress organized by ASSOCHAM. He has been an invitee to the Pre-budget discussion of the Finance Minister with representatives from banking and financial institutions. He is a Member of Academic Advisory Council of New Delhi Institute of Management and Guest Faculty at Institute of Chartered Accountants, India (ICAI) & International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi.
Raman is Masters in Urban Planning from School of Planning &Architecture, New Delhi and Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala. He has also undertaken a Special Training Programme for the Personnel of Non-Banking Finance Companies at RBI College of Agricultural Banking, Pune.
Krishan Kohli
Krishan joined Kalyani group in July 2022 as President & CEO of Kalyani Powertrain Limited which is the e-Mobility business within BFL group. In this role Krishan is responsible to drive the growth strategy for e-Mobility business across all verticals and is in-charge of complete manufacturing & business operations of Kalyani Powertrain Limited. Currently Kalyani Powertrain has technology tie-up partnership with TEVVA Motors of UK and has JV partnerships with both Prettl group, Germany and Harbinger Motors, USA. Kalyani Powertrain is building EV business across various product lines incl. Power & Control electronics, Traction devices and targeting to serve multiple market segments incl. electric 2W&3W, electric CV & Pass Car markets in India and overseas.
He comes with 30+ years of work experience in Automotive & Commercial Vehicle markets in both regional and global roles. In his past experience, Krishan held various leadership positions in organizations like Continental, Eaton, Eicher Motors & Tata Motors. Prior to joining Kalyani group, he was the Managing Director of Continental Automotive Brakes India Ltd. He comes with a rich experience covering both manufacturing and commercial business operations, also handled Greenfield and Brownfield operations with a proven track record of developing & executing growth strategies and leading turnarounds of businesses in fast-growth markets incl. India & China.
Krishan obtained Mechanical Engineering degree from NIT, Kurukshetra followed by MBA from Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He has also participated in senior Executive programs in Business Strategy at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and on Pricing & Profitability at Kellogg School of Management, North Western University.
