Abstract

In its essence, it reflects the government's fiscal policies, outlining revenue and expenditure plans to achieve economic stability and growth. Thus, a crucial role in shaping the socio-economic landscape, addressing challenges, and fostering development. The webinar will involve discussion on the Union Budget 2025-26.
About the Speaker
Virendra K. Malhotra
Professor V.K. Malhotra is, presently, Chairman, Food Commission of M.P. constituted under the National Food Security Act, 2013. Prior to his current position, he served as the Member Secretary, Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) from 2016 to 2022. He is a Professor of Economics and has worked with the Department of Economics, C.C.S University, Meerut.
He has supervised theses/dissertations of eight Ph.D scholars and more than forty M.Phil scholars. His research interests include Governance and Economic Development, Corporate Governance and Performance of various industries, Intellectual Property Rights and India’s concerns, Foreign Trade and Investments etc. He has done UGC sponsored major research projects on ‘Governance and Development: A Study of Major States of India’ and his own Ph.D. work has been on ‘Economics of Fertiliser Subsidies’. He has a number of papers in reputed national/international journals in areas of his interest. He has to his credit a book entitled ‘Economics of Education’ which is prescribed by many universities. He is on the Board of Indian Council of World Affairs, and a Visitor’s nominee to the Court of Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Delhi. He is also a Member of the Board of many renowned Social Science Research Institutes of the country and is also part of the Executive of many International Research Bodies/Associations.
Rattan Chand
Dr Rattan Chand is one of the founding Directors, EGROW Foundation. He is a former officer of the Indian Statistical Service and has served the Government of India in various positions for more than 35 years. While in the service, he worked closely with many Development Partners including USAID, World Bank, United Nations, World Health Organization etc. He has represented the Government at many national and International Meetings, Conferences and Seminars in the Health Sector. As Chief Director, in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, he was responsible for Monitoring and evaluation and during his tenure many activities like establishing Health Management Information System (HMIS), Annual Health Surveys, District Level Household Surveys and National Family Health Survey were initiated and completed.
He obtained Ph.D. in Population Studies from IIPS, Mumbai, PG Diploma in Population and Development from JNU and Master of Statistics from Punjabi University.
Col (Dr) Mohinder Pal Singh
Col (Dr) Mohinder Pal Singh is a graduate in science form prestigious St Xaviers College, Mumbai. He is an MBA from IIFT , New Delhi and a gold medalist in MSc from Allahabad University. He has completed his Doctorate in international relations from the Department of Defense and Strategic Studies, University of Allahabad. He has published number of articles in all leading journals and websites on strategic issues.
He has served in the Indian army, in the elite Infantry Regiment for thirty years tenating various appointments in all kinds of terrain and operations . He was also awarded ‘Chief of Army Staff Commendation’ for his work. He has been an instructor in Infantry School and an Assessor in the Officer Selection Process for over six years. He successfully commanded administrative battalion.
Apart from his extensive experience in army and his academic pursuits he is also a prolific writer who has to his credit many articles in books on strategic and national security subjects and has individually authored five books. His two recent books ‘Teams of Tomorrow’ and ‘Myanmar and its Strategic Dilemmas’ have been well received in the environment. He is currently Director of EGROW Foundation.
Dilip Chenoy
Mr Dilip Chenoy is Chairman, Bharat Web3 Association. Mr. Chenoy has had an illustrious career serving as the Secretary-General of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Director-General of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), and Deputy Director-General of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). With decades of experience in leading domestic industry bodies, Mr. Chenoy is a renowned figure in the policy domain and his expertise and contributions have been invaluable to the Indian business landscape.
Nirmala Padmanabhan
Dr. Nirmala Padmanabhan was a faculty of Economics for 26 years for post-graduation and graduation and has handled subjects such as financial markets and systems, international trade and monetary systems. She has experience in budget analysis and analysis of economic issues of the country and in rural economic development as part of the Unnath Bharath Abhiyan / community development projects. Presently, she is the Dean of Extension and Incubation in St. Teresa's College, Ernakulam with overall charge of community development projects undertaken by the college and responsible for overall guidance to the business incubation and entrepreneurship development initiatives of the college.
Dr. Nirmala Padmanabhan was Member of the Public Expenditure Review Committee of the Government of Kerala in 2020-21. She was also a Member of the Working Group on Gender and Development to prepare Plan of Action for 14 Five Year Plan of the Government of Kerala in 2021-22. She was also a Member of the Working Group on Financial Resource Mobilisation to prepare Plan of Action for 14 Five Year Plan of the Government of Kerala in 2021-22. Dr. Nirmala Padmanabhan is a Director in and holds 6.94% of the paid-up capital of BhuME Women's Collective Pvt. Ltd. Dr. Nirmala Padmanabhan is a post graduate in economics and holds a doctorate and has special knowledge and practical experience in economics.
Dr. Nirmala Padmanabhan was appointed on the Board of the Dhanlaxmi Bank with effect from 09.11.2022.

E. Bijoykumar Singh
E. Bijoykumar Singh is Professor of Economics at Manipur University. He has been teaching Econometrics and Microeconomics at PG level and Data base of the Indian Economy at M.Phil/Ph.D. level. His areas of interest are Development Issues of North Eastern Region of India including border trade, Public Finance and Econometrics. He is an active member of North eastern Economic Association , the Indian Econometric Society ,the Indian Economic Association and Manipur Economic Association. He has edited 3 books and written extensively on various aspects of development in the northeastern region of India.
Dr. Pabitra Kumar Jena
Dr. Pabitra Kumar Jena is working as an Associate professor of Economics at the School of Economics, Faculty of Management, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, Jammu & Kashmir. Dr. Pabitra Kumar Jena, Alumni of University of Hyderabad and Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (Formerly NITIE). He has published 5 Books, 6 Book Chapters and 72 research papers in various International & National journals of repute. He has successfully conducted several Conferences (International & National), Seminars, Symposiums, Faculty Development Programmes (FDP) and Research Workshops. He has been ranked 269 in South Asia Region in ABDC recent ranking. He has also presented and attended more than 50 conferences and workshops. Under his supervision, 7 Research Scholars received their Doctoral Degrees, and 3 are pursuing Ph D. He has trained more than 2,500 Faculty members and Research Scholars across India. His teaching interests include Macroeconomics, Applied Econometrics, Time Series Analysis, Pane Data Analysis and Modeling with R Programming. His research areas are Foreign Direct Investment and Macroeconomic Modeling, Energy Economics, Environment Economics, Development Economics and Sustainability Goals (SDGs). He also completed five major research projects. Besides academic research, he has written in different English newspapers on contemporary economic issues. He is also an Associate Editor and Editorial Board member for various journals of international repute.

Rajeshwari U.R. is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Economics, Christ University . She is a recipient of Nandan Nilekani Fellowship and RBI Scholarship.She is Member In Professional Bodies, Karnataka Economic Association and Board of Studies, BASE, Bangalore. Her research interest lies in the area of Public Finance, Development Economics and econometrics. Rajeshwari U.R contributes valuable insights to the industry.
